§ 28-20. Definitions.

  • The following words, terms and phrases, when used in this article, shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section, except where the context clearly indicates a different meaning:

    Appointing authority means the city council.

    Authority having jurisdiction, as used in the Florida Building Code, means the city through the city council.

    Building code means the Florida Building Code as complemented and supplemented by the provisions of this chapter.

    Field experience means the experience gained at actual construction sites where the full spectrum of practical situations and problems arising in the trade are found; drafting, estimating, designing, other office work or maintenance or service installations do not satisfy the requirement.

    Florida Building Code means the unified building code for the state, adopted by the state building commission pursuant to F.S. § 553.73 et seq., as the same may be amended from time to time.
