§ 8.2. Interim Governing Body.

Latest version.
  • After adoption of this Charter, but prior to the election and acceptance of office of the first elected City Council, the governing body for the City shall be the Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners (the "County Commission"). In acting as the governing body for the City during this interim period, the County Commission shall provide all municipal services to the City but shall not make decisions, which could reasonably be postponed until the election of the City Council or which would materially alter or affect the status quo within the City boundaries. Once the City Council is seated, notwithstanding the delivery of any services provided by virtue of Article IX of this Charter or any Interlocal Agreement(s) with Miami-Dade County, it is understood that the City Council shall make all decisions for the City.
